Unit Description

This unit explores the traditions and history of Asia before the modern era. The treatment is both thematic and chronological, covering the histories of East, Southeast and South Asia, as well as the cultural impact of the main religious and philosophic traditions, traditional polities and economies, class relations, the position of women and the significance of cultural adaptation in Asian history.
