Unit Description

This unit examines the physiological and cellular bases of some common methods of disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention. The unit builds on previous knowledge, and covers relevant aspects of human nutrition, immunology, pharmacology and ionising radiation. The relation of these topics to the context of nursing practice is emphasised. Forty hours of on-campus teaching lays the foundation for student self-directed learning during the off-campus clinical praxis period. Assessment of the unit is by practical work (10%), an assignment (40%) and an examination (50%).
