This unit seeks to provide an accessible introduction to policy formulation and implementation in contemporary Australian local government. It covers a broad range of issues including: introduction to local government in Australia; democratic local government; local government and economic development; inter-governmental relations; environmental policy; developer charges; and marginal cost pricing.
