Unit Description

This unit aims to introduce students to the study of German short stories. Discussion of the stories will consider such topics as the relationship between the text and the time when it was written, that is, the historical and sociological context in which the stories originated. Students will also learn to recognise how the subject matter in stories is presented with regard to literary issues such as style, imagery and symbolism.
