| Unit Description |
This is one of a suite of units in economic history. The unit provides a comprehensive overview of the development and integration of the world economy in the 19th and 20th centuries. It outlines European economic development and examines cross-border flows of goods, capital and people and the international division of labour. The unit also analyses globalisation, the spread of modern economic growth, and the role of international economic institutions: IMF, World Bank and WTO. It examines the role of regional trade blocs and their impact on the international economy; the rise of Asia, and the environmental impacts of resource development. This unit comprises up to 26 lecture hours and 12 tutorial hours. |
