Unit Description

This unit provides a detailed coverage of knowledge management concepts and methodologies that include knowledge management systems life cycle, knowledge creation, knowledge architecture, knowledge capture, knowledge codification, system testing and development. The knowledge management tools and knowledge portals as well as the notions of knowledge transfer in the E-world will be discussed. COMP492 extends COMP292 with an additional topic on managing knowledge workers. In addition, an extra research essay on a topic chosen by the students is expected. COMP492 students are expected to show a greater level of understanding of the unit material than that required for COMP292.
