| Unit Description |
Through a combination of practical exercises and theoretical discussions, students will be introduced to a range of archaeological materials and the ways in which they are used to interpret human behaviour in the past (including the behaviour of human ancestors). The practicals will involve intensive laboratory work for the study of stone artefacts, pottery, animal bones, plant remains, and aspects of dating. Students will be introduced to quantitative methods and archaeological drawing. Discussion of theoretical issues will be closely related to the practical exercises.
