| Overview | This course provides the opportunity for existing health care professionals to conduct research into a wide range of health science areas. The course comprises four units of coursework followed by a major thesis worth two-thirds of the requirements. Within the four coursework units Epidemiology and Biostatistics are covered. |

Master of Health Science with Honours
1. Admission to Candidature
A candidate shall either:
(a) hold a bachelor’s degree in health studies or a closely related field approved by the Higher Degrees Research Committee, upon the recommendation of the faculty with a grade point average of Credit or above; or
(b) hold a bachelor with honours degree in health or a related field approved by the Higher Degrees Research Committee, upon the recommendation of the faculty; or
(c) have adequate academic preparation at the tertiary level to undertake a research thesis in the health area.
2. Course Requirements
2.1. To qualify for the award, a candidate shall pass 72 credit points as listed in Rules 2.2. and 5.
2.2. The course shall comprise:
(a) the unit in Group 1;
(b) 12 credit points from Group 2;
(c) 12 credit points at 400/500 level offered by the School of Health and related to the candidate’s research topic.
3. Period of Candidature
The maximum period of candidature shall be:
(a) 18 months as a full-time candidate;
(b) four years as a part-time candidate.
4. Progress and Conduct
Failure to successfully complete all 24 credit points of course work in the first year of candidature shall be deemed to be unsatisfactory progress under Rule 2.13.2.
5. Units Offered
All units listed below for this award have a value of six credit points except where indicated after a colon.
