Master of Environmental Systems, Markets and Climate Change
Why study the Master of Environmental Systems, Markets and Climate Change at UNE?
The Master is the third level in a program and provides the opportunity for students, who complete the elective thesis unit, to qualify for enrolment in a research Master or PhD.
On completion of the four core units, candidates may exit with the Graduate Certificate, or candidates who have completed the four core units plus four elective units may exit with the Graduate Diploma. The program focuses on future leaders and managers of eco-service markets such as carbon and water trading, and environmental sustainability issues such as climate change.
Career Opportunities
Opportunities are available in many existing programs in soil conservation, endangered species conservation, water resources management, biodiversity conservation, pollution control, environmental management, and natural resources management strategies that need well-qualified graduates for their continued success.

To qualify for the award a candidate shall achieve a total of 72 credit points.

Exit Pathways
Candidates who discontinue their studies in the course may be eligible to exit with the Graduate Certificate in Environmental Systems, Markets and Climate Change on completion of 24 credit points or the Graduate Diploma in Environmental Systems, Markets and Climate Change on completion of 48 credit points.
Period of Candidature
The maximum period of candidature is 2 years as a full-time candidate or 5 years as a part-time candidate.
Advanced Standing
Maximum of 24 credit points:
(a) for units which have counted towards a UNE Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in a relevant area; or
(b) for units completed at another institution which have not been counted towards another qualification.
Maximum of 12 credit points for units wich have been counted towards another qualification (except as set out in (a)).
Maximum of 6 credit points for considerable professional experience in a relevant field of interest.
