Bachelor of Education with Honours
Why study the Bachelor of Education with Honours at UNE?
The course provides the opportunity for students with research potential and interest to demonstrate their ability. To complete the requirements candidates will be required to undertake reading and research in an area of specialisation in either a key curriculum area, some aspect of school management or education studies. Candidates will be required to complete a research study and a thesis in the selected area under the direction of a supervisory team.

1. Admission to Candidature
1.1. A candidate shall:
hold a three-year education qualification recognised by the faculty as suitable for entry into the program at a grade point average of Credit or better and approval of the school.
2. Course Requirements
2.1. (a) To qualify for the award, candidates admitted under Rule 1.1 shall pass 48 credit points as specified in Rules 2.1.(b) and 6.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) 6 credit points from Group 1;
(ii) 12 credit points from Group 2;
(iii) 6 credit points from Group 3;
(iv) 24 credit points from Group 4.
3. Classes of Honours
3.1. There shall be three classes of honours, namely Class I, Class II and Class III. Class II shall have two divisions. There shall be no re-examination.
3.2. An exceptionally distinguished candidate who has been awarded Honours Class I may be awarded a University Medal.
4. Period of Candidature
4.1. For candidates admitted under Rule 1.1, the maximum period of candidature shall be:
(a) one year as a full-time candidate;
(b) two years as a part-time candidate.
5. Progress and Conduct
Refer to the University General Rule on Academic Progress.
6. Units Offered
All units listed below for this award have a value of six credit points except where indicated after a colon.
