| Overview | Full-time students can only start in 1st semester (on and off-campus) Part-time students can start in either 1st or 2nd semester (on and off-campus) The Graduate Diploma in Geographic Information Science is designed to provide further academic and professional training in the use and application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing for those students who wish to increase their knowledge and application of this area. Graduates of the Graduate Diploma will be well qualified for professional positions dealing with GIS and remote sensing. |

4. Requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Geographic Information Science
4.2. At the discretion of the Course Coordinator of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, the prescribed course of study may include NR 595. 4.3. The unit NR 595 involves a project and a project report. The project topic must be approved in advance by the Course Coordinator on the recommendation of the head of the school. The project may take the form of a design, a management plan, a literature review, or a laboratory investigation. To view the Course Structure click here 5. Advanced Standing a) 24 credit points for units completed towards an awarded Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in a relevant area offered by the University; or b) 24 credit points for units completed from another institution and not counted towards an awarded qualifications; or c) 12 credit points for units completed towards an awarded qualification from another University; and d) 6 credit points on the basis of considerable professional experience e) advanced standing shall not be awarded for NR595 6. Appointment of Supervisors 7. Award of the Graduate Diploma 7.2. A student who does not complete NR 595 will be awarded the Graduate Diploma without a level 7.3. A student admitted to candidature under Admission Rule 1.1.(b) will not be eligible for the award of the Graduate Diploma until the Bachelor degree has been complete. 8. Exit Pathways On completion of 24 credit points, exit with Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science.

| Advanced Standing | The maximum advanced standing shall be for units counting 24 credit points which are deemed to be equivalent to units offered by University and approved for course comprising: a. 24 credit points for units completed towards an awarded Graduate Certificate in a relevant area offered by the University; or b. 24 credit points for units completed from another institution and not counted towards an awarded qualification; or c. 12 credit points for units completed towards an awarded qualification from another University; and d. 6 credit points on the basis of considerable professional experience e. advanced standing will not be granted for NR595. |

| Other Benefits | Concurrent Enrolment with the Bachelor of Science: After completion of two years of study (96 credit points) towards the degree of Bachelor of Science, students may enrol concurrently for the Graduate Diploma in Geographic Information Science. The Graduate Diploma will not be awarded until the Bachelor degree has been completed. Articulation from the Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science: On completion of the Graduate Certificate, students are able to articulate to the Graduate Diploma. All units counted towards the Graduate Certificate will count towards the Graduate Diploma. Articulation to the Master of Geographic Information Science: On completion of the Graduate Diploma, students are able to articulate to the Master program with 24 cp (no more than 12 cp will be for undergraduate level units) of advanced standing for units completed towards the Graduate Diploma. |
