These Course Rules & Plans are ONLY to be used if you Commenced, Transferred or Changed Versions in the Graduate Diploma in Acute Care Nursing in 2009.

1. Admission to Candidature
A candidate shall be currently employed as a Registered Nurse, and
(a) hold the degree of Bachelor of Nursing; or
(b) hold a three year diploma relevant to the award; or
(c) hold the Graduate Certificate in Acute Care Nursing from the University of New England.

2. Course Requirements
2.1. (a) To qualify for the award of Graduate Diploma in Acute Care Nursing (Perioperative Nursing), a candidate admitted under Rules 1.(a) or (b) shall pass 48 credit points as specified in Rules 2.1.(b) and 5.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) all units in Group 1;
(ii) 6 credit points from Group 3.

2.2. (a) To qualify for the award of Graduate Diploma in Acute Care Nursing (Trauma and Critical Care Nursing), a candidate admitted under Rules 1.(a) or (b) shall pass 48 credit points as specified in Rules 2.2.(b) and 5.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) all units in Group 2;
(ii) 6 credit points from Group 3.

2.3.(a) To qualify for the award of Graduate Diploma in Acute Care Nursing (Perioperative Nursing), a candidate admitted under Rule 1.(c) shall pass 24 credit points as specified in Rules 2.3.(b) and 5.
(b) The course shall comprise all units in Group 4.

2.4. (a) To qualify for the award of Graduate Diploma in Acute Care Nursing (Trauma and Critical Care Nursing), a candidate admitted under Rules 1.(c) shall pass 24 credit points as specified in Rules 2.4.(b) and 5.
(b) The course shall comprise all units in Group 5.

3. Period of Candidature
3.1. For candidates admitted under Rules 1.(a) or (b) the maximum period of candidature shall be four years as a part-time candidate.
3.2. For candidates admitted under Rule 1.(c) the maximum period of candidature shall be two years as a part-time candidate.

4. Progress and Conduct
Refer to the University General Rule on Academic Progress.

5. Units Offered
All units listed below for this award have a value of six credit points.

HSNS 434, 441, 442, 443, 453, 454, 455

Group 2
HSNS 434, 444, 445, 446, 450, 451, 456

Group 3
HSNS 423, 440; or any other unit approved by the school.
