| Overview | The Graduate Diploma in Accounting is a course that will service the needs of students requiring four or less units for accreditation with the professional accounting bodies. It can serve as an entry and exit point for the Master of Professional Accounting. The course comprises eight units (that is 48 credit points) and is usually used to supplement existing studies in accounting to satisfy the entry requirements of the professional accounting organisations. Subjects are drawn from the Master of Professional Accounting and may cover introductory as well as advanced units in accounting, finance, systems, law, auditing, economics and business statistics. The course is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, CPA Australia and the National Institute of Accountants. |

| Entry Requirements | Applicants for admission shall: (a) have fulfilled all the requirements for admission to a degree or qualification of equivalent standing at this or another university or tertiary institution; OR (b) have completed the Graduate Certificate in Accounting or any approved Graduate Certificate with a minimum Credit grade average of credit. |

| Course Rules | 1.Admission to Candidature 1.2. An applicant for admission to candidature for the Graduate Diploma in Accounting shall:
1.3.In addition, applicants for admission to candidature under Rule 1.2(b) must provide evidence of at least three years work experience in a field of employment approved by the school on the recommendation of the Course Coordinator. 1.4. An applicant for candidature shall apply to the Director on the prescribed form. 1.5. Admission to candidature and the date of commencement shall be determined by the school. 2.Approval of Course of Study 3. Requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Accounting 3.2. The course work program shall include units to the value of 48 credit points from the following: GSB 644, 641, 642, 701, 703, 711, 728, 741, 743, 748, 749, 750. 4. Period of Candidature 4.2.In exceptional circumstances, the school, may, on the recommendation of the Course Coordinator, extend the period of candidature for a period or periods totalling not more than four trimesters. 5.Advanced Standing

| Career Opportunities | The Graduate Diploma in Accounting is a course that will service the needs of students requiring eight or less units for accreditation with the professional accounting bodies. Once associate membership is obtained students can pursue the professional studies for full membership. |

| Advanced Standing | Advanced standing is available for other postgraduate study that has a reasonable correspondence with units prescribed for this degree. |

| Fast Track | The trimester system allows students to study over three teaching periods within the calendar year. Trimesters run from late January to April; mid May to late August and beginning of September to mid-December. |
