Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Applied Social Research is designed to enable graduates to commence or pursue further studies in applied research in the Social Sciences. Core units in the course allow students to acquire key skills in both qualitative and quantitative data production and analysis. Students will also be introduced to ethical issues in the social sciences and research report writing. Key methods introduced in the course include; surveys; interviews; focus groups; and unobtrusive techniques, such as archival research. Students will also be introduced to important research approaches, such as action research and ethnography. This technically oriented course is ideally suited to time-short life long learners seeking to re-skill and/or update their professional expertise.
