Bachelor of Computer Science
Why study the Bachelor of Computer Science at UNE?
In this course students are able to complete one of the approved majors or they may complete a 'general' Bachelor of Computer Science.
Each major includes a sequence of study in computer science based on the study of the programming language C++ together with applied mathematics in first year. Topics covered include architecture and assembler, software engineering, data structures, operating systems, databases, programming in Java, networks, multimedia, game programming, data mining, software project management, etc. The major completed will appear on the academic record and testamur. There is opportunity for articulation from the NSW TAFE Diploma in Information Technology.. A fourth year is required for Honours.
Career Opportunities
Examples include technical positions in e-business, internet and networking specialists, specialized financial computer programs, software solution designers, and careers in economic modelling, artificial intelligence, game programming and electronic product design.
Students who complete the double degree BCompSc/LLB also find employment in banking, management and the Diplomatic Service.
