| Overview |
The course is designed to cater for a wide range of people from differing educational backgrounds who are interested in the pursuit of local, family and applied history as a cultural study in its own right, as a means of promoting a community service or as a professional qualification. The course introduces you to the skills and sources for researching and presenting local, family and applied history. You can learn, for example, how to find and interpret historical documents, how to determine the history of a building and how to develop oral history skills. You will also learn about the history of Australia and its place in the world. Successful completion of the course entitles students to advanced standing in the Bachelor of Arts where students can do more history units and pursue other areas of study.
