Unit Description

How the social order is organised and made visible as the familiar world of practical action and reasoning is a fundamental issue in sociology and an abiding concern of ethnomethodological research. Through investigations of activities such as queuing, ballroom dancing, pedestrian behaviour, solving puzzles, playing games such as checkers, and driving-in-traffic, this unit examines the ways in which members of society produce, manage, analyse and make accountable their concerted actions.
