Combined Units MSM507 - Pollution of the Marine Environment
Coordinator(s) Richard Faulkner (rfaulkne@une.edu.au)
Unit Description

Human coastal populations are increasingly impacting estuarine and marine environments. This unit will examine the different forms of pollution, methods of detecting pollutants, the effects of pollutants on both individual organisms and biological communities, and techniques for controlling pollution and restoring pollution environments. Assessment will include assignments, seminar, and quizzes during the residential school. MSM 507 is based on the senior undergraduate unit MSM 307 with additional load consisting of extensions to two of the assignments. Candidates will be required to show a greater depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding of the unit material than that required of an undergraduate student. Students who complete MSM 307 are not permitted to enrol for MSM 507.
