|||||||||
| Coordinator(s) | Stephen Smith (ssmith2@une.edu.au) | |||||||||
| Unit Description |
Many of the oceans' resources are suffering from overexploitation. This unit addresses sustainable use of resources at scales ranging from large marine ecosystem management to protection of threatened species. Multiple-use marine protected areas, modeling techniques, ecological risk analysis and species recovery plans, amongst others are discussed. Assessment will include assignments, seminar, and quizzes during the residential school. MSM 506 is based on the senior undergraduate unit MSM 306 with additional load consisting of extensions to two of the assignments. Candidates will be required to show a greater level of understanding of the unit material than that required at 300 level. Students who complete MSM 306 are not permitted to enrol for MSM 506. |
