| Unit Description |
In the digital age, the law enters into and seeks to regulate a new domain, cyberspace. As well, cyberspace enters into and modifies the practice of law. This law-IT interface marks a new and exciting frontier. It is vital for any person engaging with the law in the digital age to know the legal perils, risks and liabilities arising within, and the challenges and opportunities presented to the law by, this new domain. In this unit you will study: the internet and the advent of the information society; internet regulation and jurisdiction; copyright, domain names, trade marks, software patents and e-commerce; electronic contracts, electronic signatures and encryption; privacy and defamation on the internet; and cyber-crime. |
