| Unit Description |
The purpose of this unit is to introduce students to the basic structure and principles of public international law, and its significant role in regulating international relations. The unit covers, inter alia, the following topics: nature and development of international law, sources of international law, the relation between international law and municipal law, statehood and international personality, territorial sovereignty, state jurisdiction, state responsibility, international protection of human rights, law of treaties, international organisations, peaceful settlement of international disputes, the use of This unit introduces students to the fundamentals of Public International Law. Its purpose is to provide you with a working knowledge of the fundamental principles on which this area of law rests, and an ability to critically analyse them. The unit covers areas such as statehood and recognition, territorial jurisdiction, state responsibility, human rights and the use of armed force. |
