Unit Description

The aim of this unit is to introduce you to a variety of current issues in the medico-legal field. At the end of the unit, you will have been exposed to a number of issues and will have had the opportunity to explore the legal and ethical issues involved. Topics covered in this unit include: negligence; consent; euthanasia, withholding and withdrawing medical treatment; abortion, IVF and reproductive technology; tissue transplantation and organ donation; confidentiality and access to medical records; and complaints and professional discipline.

Apart from these topics, there is ample opportunity for you to explore other medico-legal issues that may be of particular interest to them.
