Unit Description

This unit is about the cognitive aspects of pronunciation. Using examples from a range of accents and languages, it explores the way learning to speak and write influence people's perception and representation of speech, and analyses how sound systems and writing systems work. The focus is on applying knowledge of phonology in practical tasks such as teaching language and literacy. Web access is essential.
