Unit Description

This unit provides students with an understanding of the major crop protection issues associated with the sustainable production of grain crops in Australia, including cereals, pulses (Legumes) and oilseeds. Topics include weed, disease and pest management, pesticide resistance, chemical application and legislation, grain quality and product integrity, and quarantine issues. Students will be required to attend a 4-day residential school to cover practical aspects of the unit. GRNS 501 is based on the undergraduate unit GRNS 301 with additional load consisting of extra questions on assignments and examinations and candidates for GRNS 501 will be expected to show a greater level of understanding of the unit material than that required for GRNS 301.
