Unit Description

The literary and filmic texts discussed in this unit treat the themes of love, politics and betrayal. The texts are significant German texts from the modern period, ie from the 19th-21st Century. The unit focuses on developing students' ability to examine a literary or film text critically and to relate it to the historical, political and social context of its era. Language skills will also be enhanced through a detailed study of the texts.
