Unit Description

This unit investigates the relationship between humans and the land and the many ways in which power is exercised by places over people as well as by people over place. It explores the different ways in which people may comprehend the world, and how this affects their interactions with place, and also how they may use places to exert power over other people. It examines the causes and effects of 'conventional' and 'alternative' decision-making processes related to planning, land use and land use change. Learning in the unit will be facilitated by structured group discussion, unit readings, assignment work and online media.
