Unit Description

GEOL 202 is an online introductory palaeontology unit presented by mixed mode delivery. Access to the www is essential. Topics covered in the unit include: the origin of life on Earth; Cambrian explosion; evolution; extinctions and radiations during the Phanerozoic; preservation and uses of fossils; selected invertebrate fossil groups; and Australian fossil sites. Resources include a printed Study Guide, CD-ROM and access to the UNE GEOL 202 Introductory Palaeontology web site, containing essential readings for the unit, as well as access to discussion boards where all students submit assessed online assignments.
