Unit Description

This unit will provide an overview of a range of potential applications of Second Language Acquisition (SLA) theory. These applications include such areas as language teaching (eg Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages - TESOL; Teaching Languages Other Than English - TLOTE; Adult Literacy), language testing, fostering bilingualism in family and community, and language education materials preparation. Students will apply their knowledge of SLA theory by carrying out a case study and an action research project on their own professional practice.
