Unit Description

This unit focuses on transitions from oral to print literacy as social practice. A conceptual framework is provided for understanding and interrogating the processes of how children learn about symbolic representation and communication from infancy through to the early years in school. Theoretical approaches and practical strategies are analysed and implemented for learning and teaching of language and English print literacy in reference to relevant State authorities' policy and curriculum documents.
