Unit Description This is the introductory unit for the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education). It is designed to broaden students understanding of being a professional and strengthen their abilities for reflective practice. Students will be encouraged to locate themselves as professionals across the spectrum of early childhood education settings. They will explore the diversity of the field, various influences upon the field and issues surrounding change and its management. The emphasis will be on stimulating students' academic literacies, including computer literacy, through exploration of early childhood concepts and dilemmas. Throughout the unit, students will analyse, reflect, and document their understandings.
