| Unit Description |
This unit explores demographic and evolutionary processes in plant populations. Student outcomes will include an understanding of the theoretical principles, methodology and practical applications of studying plant populations. Topics will include: special features of plant populations; plant breeding systems; seed production and dispersal; seed dormancy and seed banks; seed germination and seedling recruitment; asexual reproduction; population dynamics; competition and density dependence; and evolution of plant life histories. ECOL 507 is based on ECOL 307 with an extra assignment and will require a greater level of understanding of the unit material. |
