| Unit Description |
This unit develops and expands the understanding of redox and acid base chemistry, reaction mechanisms and electronic spectra especially as they relate to transition metal complexes. It also provides an introduction to the role of inorganic compounds in biology, including the chemical principles, structure and function of biological systems containing metal ions; oxygen transport and control; hydrolytic enzymes; groups IA and IIA metal ion systems; electron-transfer proteins; and disease diagnosis and therapy. CHEM 507 will require a greater depth of understanding of the unit material. |
