Entry Requirements

Applicants for admission to candidature for the degree of Master of International Business shall have fulfilled all the requirements for admission to an undergraduate degree in a relevant area.

Advanced Standing There is no maximum to the advanced standing that may be granted for units passed at this University prior to admission to candidature that have not been counted towards another qualification. A maximum of 24 credit points of advanced standing may be granted for units passed at another university or institution that have reasonable correspondence to units offered in the Master of International Business.
Fast Track The trimester system allows students to study over three teaching periods each year.

1. Admission to Candidature
1.1. The course is available on a fee paying basis only.
1.2. Applicants for admission to candidature for the degree of Master of International Business shall:
(a) have fulfilled the requirements for admission to a degree or qualification of equivalent standing at this or another university or tertiary institution, provided that the degree or qualification:
(i) is accepted by the school on the advice of the course coordinator as sufficient qualification for admission to the course of study; and
(ii) required a minimum of three years’ full-time study.

2. Approval of Course of Study
After admission to candidature, a candidate shall have a course of study approved by the course coordinator for the Master of International Business.

3. Requirements for the Master of International Business Degree
3.1. Except with the permission of the Course Coordinator, and, as provided in Rule 4., a candidate shall:
(a) follow a course of study prescribed by the school as set out in Rule 3.2.;
(b) complete such written assignments and tasks as are prescribed and pass any examination as is prescribed in each unit of the course of study.
3.2. A candidate shall proceed to the Master of International Business by course work to a minimum value of 48 credit points and complete the following:
(a) GSB 691, 696, 702, 723, 726, 731, 736, 738

3.3. Except as provided in Rule 3.4., a candidate shall:
(a) as a full-time candidate, satisfy the above requirements of Rule 3.2.(a) in not more than 3 trimesters of 15 weeks’ duration from the date of commencement of candidature.
(b) as a part-time candidate, satisfy the above requirements of Rule 3.2.(a) in not less than 3 trimesters of 15 weeks’ duration from the date of commencement of candidature and not more than 8 trimesters of 15 weeks’ duration.
3.4. In exceptional circumstances, the school may vary the requirements of Rule 3.3. by extending the period of candidature for a period or periods totalling not more than 2 trimesters of 15 weeks duration.

4. Advanced Standing
4.1. At the discretion of the course coordinator, on the recommendation to the head of school, a candidate may be granted advanced standing for course work units only, passed prior to admission to candidature, provided that such units have reasonable correspondence with units offered by the school for the Master of International Business for up to 24 credit points, except as provided by Advanced Standing rule 3.4.(d), on the basis of units that have been successfully completed towards a postgraduate qualification at this or another University; or through other significant learning which the school considers equivalent to units prescribed for the Master of International Business.
4.2. A candidate who is re-admitted to candidature following exclusion may be granted advanced standing by the school for units in which he or she previously satisfied examiners in terms of Rule 3.1.(b).

5. Improper Conduct
Candidates are referred to the University Policy on Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct.
