1. Admission to Candidature
A candidate shall either:
(a) hold a degree of a University in a health-related field approved by the school; or
(b) hold a degree of a University and have demonstrated professional experience in a health-related field approved by the school; or
(c) hold a Graduate Diploma relevant to the award from a tertiary institution and have demonstrated professional experience in a health-related field approved by the school; or
(d) hold the Graduate Diploma in Gerontology from The University of New England.
2. Course Requirements
2.1. (a) To qualify for the award, candidates admitted under Rule 1.(a), (b) or (c) shall pass 72 credit points as specified in Rules 2.1.(b) and.5.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) 36 credit points from Group 1;
(ii) 36 credit points from Group 2, 3, 4 or 5.
2.2. (a) To qualify for the award, candidates admitted under Rule 1.(d) shall pass 24 credit points from Group 2, 3, 4 or 5.
2.3. (a) To qualify for the award of Master of Gerontology (Aged Care), candidates shall pass 72 credit points as specified in Rules 2.3.(b) and.5.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) 36 credit points from Group 1;
(ii) 24 credit points from Group 2;
(iii) 12 credit points from Group 5.
2.4. (a) To qualify for the award of Master in Gerontology (Dementia Care), candidates shall pass 72 credit points as specified in Rules 2.4.(b) and 5.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) 36 credit points from Group 1;
(ii) 24 credit points from Group 3;
(iii) 12 credit points from Group 5.
2.5. (a) To qualify for the award of Master in Gerontology (Health Management), candidates shall pass 72 credit points as specified in Rules 2.5.(b) and 5.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) 36 credit points from Group 1;
(ii) 24 credit points from Group 4;
(iii) 12 credit point from Group 5.
3. Period of Candidature
3.1. For candidates admitted under Rule 1.(a), (b) or (c), the maximum period of candidature shall be:
(a) two years as a full-time candidate;
(b) four years as a part-time candidate.
3.2. For candidates admitted under Rule 1.(d), the maximum period of candidature shall be:
(a) one year as a full-time candidate;
(b) two years as a part-time candidate.
