| Entry Requirements | The minimum requirement for admission to candidature is a three year Bachelor degree in a field related to natural resource and environmental management. It is possible to transfer to Master of Environmental Management candidature on completion of units to the value of 12 credit points towards the Graduate Diploma in Natural Resources. |

1.Admission to Candidature
1.1. An applicant for admission to candidature for the degree of Master of Environmental Management shall:
(a) have completed all the requirements for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Environmental Science; or
(b) have completed at least 12 credit points towards the Graduate Diploma in Natural Resources and have a satisfactory academic record; or
(c) have fulfilled all of the requirements for admission to a degree or other qualification acceptable to the school as sufficient qualification for admission to candidature.
1.2. Admission to candidature shall be determined by the relevant course coordinator.
2. Appointment of Supervisor
At the time of admission to candidature a supervisor, who shall be a member of the staff of the University of the rank of lecturer, or higher, and who shall be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the candidate’s study program, shall be appointed by the relevant course coordinator.
3. Course Requirements for the Master of Environmental Management
3.1. A student shall complete a study program comprising units counting 48 credit points as follows:
(a) at least 12 credit points from EM 511, 512; RSNR 502, 503; NR 511; and
(b) at least 36 credit points of which at least 24 credit points must be at graduate level; and
(c) no unit shall be below 300 level.
3.2. Unless otherwise determined by the school in special circumstances, the course work program shall be completed in 12 months of full-time study or in not mre than eight consecutive semesters of part-time study.
4. Advanced Standing
On the recommendation of the relevant course coordinator, a student may be granted advanced standing to a maximum of 24 credit points towards the Master in terms of Advanced Standing Rule 2 provided that:
(a) the maximum advanced standing which may be granted in terms of Rule 2.1.(a) for an awarded Graduate Certificate or a Graduate Diploma in a relevant area offered by the University shall be for units counting 24 credit points; or
(b) the maximum advanced standing which may be granted in terms of Rule 2.1.(b) shall be for units counting 24 credit points; or
(c) the maximum advanced standing which may be granted in terms of Rule 2.2.(b) shall be for units counting 12 credit points; and
(d) the maximum advanced standing which may be granted in terms of Rule 2.3 shall be for units counting six credit points.
