1. Admission to Candidature
A candidate shall have had appropriate experience* in an educational institution or in education services delivery and(a) hold the degree or a three-year diploma of a university; or
(b) hold a Graduate Certificate in Educational Management; or
(c) satisfy the faculty by means of other qualifications and relevant experience of adequate preparation for candidature.
2. Award of the Degree
(a) Candidates who meet the course requirements listed under Rule 3 and who have not specialised shall be awarded the Master of Educational Administration.
(b) Candidates who meet the course requirements under Rule 3 and who specialise in Higher Education shall be awarded the Master of Educational Administration (Higher Education).
3. Course Requirements
3.1 (a) To qualify for the award of Master of Educational Administration a candidate admitted under Rule 1 (a) or (c) shall pass 48 credit points as specified in Rules 3.1 (b) and 6.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) the unit in Group 1;
(ii) the unit in Group 2B;
(iii) at least 12 credit points from Group 2A;
(iv) not more than 18 credit points from Group 2C;
(v) not more than 24 credit points from Group 3-5.
3.2 (a) To qualify for the award of Master of Educational Administration a candidate admitted under Rule 1 (b) must pass 24 credit points as specified in Rules 3.2 (b) and 6.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) the unit in Group 2B;
(ii) at least 6 credit points from Group 2A;
(iii) not more than 12 credit points from Group 3-5.
3.3 (a) To qualify for the award of Master of Educational Administration (Higher Education) candidates admitted under Rule 1 (a) or (b) shall pass 48 credit points as specified in Rules 3.3 (b) and 6.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) the unit in Group 2B;
(ii) the units in Group 4;
(iii) 12 credit points from Group 5.
3.4 (a) To qualify for the award of Master of Educational Administration (Higher Education), a candidate admitted under Rule 1 (b) shall pass 24 credit points as specified under Rules 3.4 (b) and 6.
(b) The course shall comprise:
(i) the unit in Group 2B;
(ii) 18 credit points from Groups 4-5.

4. Period of Candidature
(a) For candidates admitted under Rule 1.(a) or (c), the maximum period of candidature shall be:
(i) one year as a full-time candidate;
(ii) four years as a part-time candidate.
(b) For candidates admitted under Rule 1.(b), the maximum period of candidature shall be:
(i) one year as a full-time candidate;
(ii) two years as a part-time candidate.

All units listed below for this award have a value of six credit points except where indicated after a colon.

PDAS 401.
Group 2A
PDAL 596:6 or 12; PDAS 551, 570, 574, 577, 578, 580, 581, 591, 595; or any other unit approved by the school.
Group 2B
EHPS 590.
Group 2C
PDAL 599:18; or any other unit approved by the faculty.
Group 3
PDAS 400, 405, 415, 416, 430, 471, 478, 479, 482, 484, 488; PDPS 433; or any other unit approved by the school.
Group 4
PDAS 482, 485, 551; PDAS 403:12.
Group 5
PDAS 415, 430, 479, 574, 595.
