The Graduate Certificate is the first award level of a fully articulated program which gives qualified applicants the opportunity for study at progressive levels: Graduate Certificate in Information Technology and Graduate Diploma in Information Technology leading to the Master of Information Technology, or the Master of Information Technology with Honours, or the Master of Information Systems, or the Master of Information Systems with Honours.
This program is designed for those who do not have a computing background and who are seeking to achieve qualification in information technology.
The Graduate Certificate will be awarded at the level of Pass, Pass with Credit, Pass with Distinction or Pass with High Distinction depending on the level of academic achievement.

| Entry Requirements | For admission to the Graduate Certificate an applicant must hold a Bachelor degree. Applicants who have other qualifications and relevant professional experience will also be considered. Applicants are not required to have any previous knowlege of computer science or mathematics. |
| Advanced Standing | Advanced standing may be granted for a maximum of six credit points on the basis previous study completed at a recognised tertiary institution or on the basis of relevant professional experience. |

1. Admission to Candidature
1.1. An applicant for admission to candidature for the certificate shall:
(a) have fulfilled all the requirements for admission to a degree, or an equivalent qualification, acceptable to the school as sufficient qualification for admission to candidature; or
(b) satisfy the school by means of other qualifications and/or relevant experience that adequate preparation for candidature has been made.
1.2. Admission to candidature and the date of commencement of candidature shall be determined by the school on the recommendation of the relevant postgraduate course coordinator.
2. Program of Study
Each program of study shall be prescribed by the school on the recommendation of the relevant postgraduate course coordinator and shall comprise units with a total value of 24 credit points with at least 12 credit points at 200-level or higher.
