Overview

All Australian and New Zealand students who meet the requirements for direct entry to the Doctor of Education program will not incur tuition fees as they will be awarded a HECS-HELP exemption under the RTS. Students who are not eligible for direct entry to EdD program and are required to undertake a preparatory study program (QEdD) will be required to pay fees for this preparatory program and may have access to FEE-HELP.

The EdD program is recommended for those who wish to study and research in areas associated with their professional life. We find educational leaders or people who intend to become educational leaders and wish to remain within their profession undertake the program.

Intensive Schools Intensive mandatory schools may be a requirement of some of the units in this course. See Unit Catalogue for specific requirements.
Entry Requirements

In order to be accepted into the award, you have to provide evidence of potential to complete doctoral coursework and research. Normally but not exclusively, this means successful completion of a research Masters degree.

Career Opportunities

The course is designed for those who wish to move into leadership positions in education, whether in a school, TAFE College or University. However, it is not limited to careers in education as members of the police and armed forces and private sector workers also undertake the degree. Because of its focus on workplace change and leadership, the Doctor of Education is also ideal for individuals seeking a change in career.
