This double degree prepares you for the growing number of careers that require a combination of planning skills and the scientific knowledge needed to work in harmony with natural environments
Graduates will be qualified to practice as planners and natural resources managers. In addition to the natural resources component of the program, students will receive professional training in town planning, urban and environmental design, the human environment and the legal framework for planning and heritage conservation.
Graduates of this double degree program will be awarded the degrees of Bachelor of Natual Resources and Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning.
Career Opportunities
Graduates enter positions with high-level training in resource management. Over half of the graduates enter government resource management agencies in fields such as water and soil conservation, parks and wildlife management, catchment management and rehabilitation, and vegetation and landscape management. Graduates are also highly sought after in industries including environmental consulting, mining companies and research institutions
Examples include positions in local government, private consulting firms, development companies, state and federal government departments involved with urban affairs, environmental management, transport, community development, heritage conservation, regional prosperity and related fields.

| Honours | Graduates may be awarded Honours in either the BNatRes or the BUrbRegPlan or both. The Honours level is based on grades achieved in the second, third, fourth and fifth years of the program including an Honours project which is completed in the final year. BNatRes(Hons) and BUrbRegPlan(Hons) graduates who achieve the appropriate level of Honours are eligible to apply to enrol for a research Master degree or the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). |

To qualify for the award a candidate shall complete a total of 240 credit points.

Exit Pathways
Candidates who discontinue their studies in the course may be eligible to exit with the Diploma in The Sciences on completion of 48 credit points or the Advanced Diploma in The Sciences on completion of 72 credit points.
Period of Candidature
The maximum period of candidature shall be 8 years as a full-time candidate and 12 years as a part-time candidate.
