Bachelor of Indigenous Studies

Why study the Bachelor of Indigenous Studies at UNE?

Indigenous Studies is an interdisciplinary field of study that focuses on the culture and experience of first nation peoples. In Australia, this is the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (ATSI). This degree offers Indigenous and non-Indigenous students by distance or on-campus study an opportunity to pursue a rich and diverse study of Indigenous issues. Students will begin their study by focusing on Australian and Torres Strait Islander Indigenous issues. They will also undertake academic skills training and units in professional studies. The students will then be able to undertake study and complete a major in select disciplinary areas of interest and within most schools across the two faculties. They then can at the end of their study undertake a work-ready unit.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Bachelor of Indigenous Studies will be equipped to pursue a career in the Indigenous sector.
