| Unit Description |
This unit comprises up to 39 lecture hours and 13 tutorial hours in internal mode. In external mode, a four-day residential school is compulsory. Exemption from residential school available if Question 3 of Assignment 1 is completed to a satisfactory level. The unit deals with basic statistical concepts and methods with particular reference to problems in economics and business. Topics include summarisation of data, probability, random variables, sampling distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation, and simple regression. Computer analysis using Excel is a basic part of the unit. |
