Unit Description

This unit consists of 39 lectures and a number of tutorial and practical sessions. It will focus on the wool product from greasy wool through to garment emphasising raw wool testing, early stage processing, product specification, quality control and quality assurance. It will also provide an understanding of the alternative marketing systems for wool and the factors that influence them as well as an introduction to risk management strategies for wool growers. Attention will also be given to the demand factors and marketing of competitive fibre types. Students enrolled in WOOL 522 will have to complete the requirements for WOOL 422 and complete additional guided reading/practical work appropriate to the needs of individual students.
