| Unit Description |
This unit will analyse popular constructions of masculinity and how these have changed in response to socio-economic changes in the late 20th century. The focus will be on mainstream films from various countries, and from such categories as drama, comedy and action films. Each film will be studied from a range of theoretical perspectives. Some of the films studied are: "Dead Poet's Society"; "Terminator 2"; "Judgement Day"; "The Crying Game"; "Once Were Warriors"; "Fight Club"; "The Full Monty" and "Lantana". |
