| Unit Description |
A study of significant popular theatre forms and their relationship to society and social change. Topics include community theatre, agitprop, melodrama, opera and musical theatre, and the theatre of Boal. The study includes an exploration of the theories of Mikhail Bakhtin and the Carnivalesque. On average there are one hour of lectures and two hours of workshops/rehearsals per week. |
