Unit Description

Survey research plays a major part in business, in government and, in general, in the administration, regulation and monitoring of contemporary society. It also supplies the dominant methodology for sociological research. This unit examines the collection and analysis of data in sociology, at present focusing on survey methodology. The unit provides an introduction to the major components of survey methodology as parts of an integrated technology for sociological enquiry. The unit stresses basic skills and seeks to develop a general literacy in sociological research.
