Combined Units RSNR521 - Sustainable Agriculture and Catchment Management
Coordinator(s) Nicholas C H Reid (nrei3@une.edu.au)
Unit Description

Sustainable agriculture is farming of the future, enhancing the agricultural environment while maintaining the economic profitability and social wellbeing of rural communities as well as catchment health. This unit will investigate the biophysical, economic and social components of agricultural systems and the key issues affecting each, across a range of scales from the family farm and catchment to the global perspective. Several detailed case studies, focusing on different agricultural zones in Australia, will provide applied knowledge and understanding of key sustainability issues and current on-ground best-management practices and strategies. RSNR 521 is based on the RSNR 421 but is assessed to a postgraduate standard.
