| Unit Description |
This unit comprises up to 13 lecture hours, 13 tutorial hours and 12 laboratory/workshop hours. It provides a working understanding of some of the principal techniques used in business decision making. Topics covered include: linear programming, data envelopment analysis, transportation and assignment problems, goal programming, project scheduling, inventory models, decision theory and games. These techniques can be used to solve problems in areas as diverse as product mixing and blending, firm efficiency and benchmarking, project management and multiperiod financial planning. Real-world examples are provided. Problems and exercises are solved using EXCEL or a simple menu-driven software package. |
