Unit Description

Globalisation is commonly assumed to have removed or considerably reduced the nation state's ability to determine its own political-economic direction. By focusing on state capacity, this unit scrutinises this view. The unit is concerned with structural transformations in the global political economy and contemporary arguments about the policy autonomy (or lack thereof) of nation states, with particular reference to Australia.
