Unit Description

This unit analyses and evaluates health policy formulation and implementation within the Australian federal system. This includes an analysis of forces determining policy priorities, the promotion of participation and accountability. The process of policy implementation and factors contributing, or otherwise, to effective implementation are critically examined as well as the translation of national and/or state initiatives into programs within individual health service organisations. Also identified are the institutional, financial and other factors affecting capacity for change.
