Unit Description

This unit examines the range of marine communities and how they are structured and function, especially in relation to natural and human disturbance. Case studies will be used to illustrate the use of marine communities for monitoring environmental change. Assessment will include assignments, a poster presentation and quizzes during the residential school. MSM 504 is based on the senior undergraduate unit MSM 304 with extra load consisting of an additional assignment. Candidates will be required to show a greater depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding of the unit material than that required of an undergraduate student. Student who complete MSM 304 are not permitted to enrol for MSM 504.
